What is an Energy Performance Certificate
An EPC provides
an Energy Efficiency rating for your home. It also gives a rating of
Environmental Impact (CO2 emissions). These ratings are in graph
form in the same way as provided for fridges and other appliances.
The EPC will offer advice on how to lower the energy costs and
emissions.
The assessor gathers information about the property - Dimensions, wall
construction type, insulation, heating systems and controls, glazing and
lighting. Access to all rooms and loft space is required. This information
is then used to calculate the energy efficiency and CO2 environmental
impact of the property.
All properties for sale or rent need an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
before the property is marketed.
